Welcome

  • Welcome by Gigi

Director of Fine Arts

  • Seby Eugene and Lindsay Collins were accepted into the ACDA National Honors Choir. They will travel to Dallas in March to be a part of the ACDA National Convention. Over 5000 student auditions were submitted to fill roughly 600 spots. Congrats to them and to Ms. Hartnett on this terrific achievement.
  • Thank you all for your efforts once again this year to support our Marching Band. From every weekend show away from home to the MICCA home show here in Norwood, we truly cannot do what we do without all your help.
  • The Madrigal Banquet will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, at the K of C. A letter will go out to current parents tomorrow with information on the event and how to purchase tickets.
  • The NHS December concert will be held at 7pm on December 12th. There is a new ticketing system that will be rolled out for the Winter Drama production this month. We plan to use this for School-based events moving forward and pending the results of the drama production, this may be used for that concert as well. It is the same company, GoFan, that the athletic department uses for all their games.
  • We are happy to have Ken Gable with us now as the elementary music teacher at both the Callahan and the Cleveland. He has made a huge impact already and it is great to have him with us here in Norwood.
  • The department continues to look into our curriculum refresh. Last Thursday, we were able to have a company present an elementary curriculum and our CMS and NHS teachers looked at programs that would be more in line with the older student musicians.
  • Lastly, I would like to look into the storage space under the auditorium. I am working with each group that shares the space as things have become more spread out over time. With art, drama, and music all sharing the same space, I would like to do some cleaning and establish some expectations from all groups to keep it clean and organized year round. I am also working with the town to figure out the humidity situation in there as this is damaging to the equipment, uniforms, and costumes.
  • MICCA Choral – Jeff confirmed that we will host.  Dates are April 4-5
  • Winter semi-formal in January- looking to get volunteers from all other fine arts departments- VOVA, BB, NCM to help this year.

Steve Conant provide updates:

  • Home Show:  SUCCESS!!!!
  • Even with 4 less Bands and 400 less people than last year, we still brought in almost as much as last year.  Great day and great help!
