1. State of Schools: Cathy Connor-Moen

• Not sure when or if school will resume. Nothing’s been announced at this time.

 

2. Approval of Last Month’s Meeting Minutes: Paul Campbell

Motion made and seconded to approve the meeting minutes of March 2020:

3. Treasurer’s Report: Tracey Jones

• Not a lot to report.
• Latest report is missing this month’s stock market investment update. Lost over $10K this month. Will leave it alone to recover.
• Will pay clinicians; Tracey needs info where to send checks.

4. Vice President: Patrick Marquis

• Ways and means still needs to be filled.
• Paul & Amy Campbell have the list of MB parents to email about the open position. Will coordinate an email to get unfilled board position filled.
• Current board positions are active until August. We usually vote on it at POPs night, but likely won’t happen.
• We could enact a temporary bylaw change so that vote will be done electronically.
• Will put a notice in the paper for the open position.
• Scholarships will be presented on the PMA website; Cathy will update dates.

• Car wash will likely be cancelled; TBD
• Summer town events could be cancelled; TBD

 

6. Band Camp: Steve Conant

• Missing prime recruiting time for next year’s MB
• Can’t rehearse until we get green light at town/state level
• Up in the air, not sure what’s happening at Camp Tap. Too soon to even guess at what’s happening
• NESBA has not put out official dates yet; still reeling from losing half winter season

 

7. Tri M Hours: Jennifer Hartnett

• Hartnett encourages kids to do any volunteering or singing/playing music wherever possible, but not to worry about getting hours at this point. It’s unavoidable.

 

8. Quorum: 2019/2020 PMA Board, there are eleven (11) voting Board Members. In order to have a quorum, six (6) Board Members must be present.

1. Approval of Last Month’s Meeting Minutes: Paul Campbell

Motion made and seconded to approve the meeting minutes of February 2020:

 Treasurer’s Report: Tracey Jones

• Good news from February: $6,372 from town for reimbursement for coach and truck for music camp for 2019. Still some outstanding reimbursements.
• Snowflake ball broke even.
• Big chunk of money went out for Great East, should be reimbursed. If cancelled, don’t know if we will get $ back.
• Did not get anything for Norwood Day yet.
• If MICCA choral weekend is cancelled, we need to have a PARTY (!!) and cook hotdogs, lots of hot dogs!!
• Stock market has affected our Fidelity account; will leave it alone.

3. Vice President: Patrick Marquis

• Reviewed PMA board officer positions for next year. Ways and means still needs to be filled.
• Amy will coordinate an email to send out to large group of marching band parents by high school secretary.
• Next year will have marching band committee to assign parents a job based on what their kid is in marching band.

4. Ways & Means: Janice, Kristen, & Marcia

• Will possibly put in last order for merch before end of year.
• Ed – Norwood Day. We will do it; need to figure out what we will have (no sausages this year). Maybe smoothies?
• Paul – Do we want to do the mattress sale again? Maybe Spring of 2021?

5. Jazz Night & Jazz update: Becca Jackson

• MAJE States – we are not doing it any more. Was moved to Oliver Ames; they might need our help? Might shift back and forth with OA in future.
• Question for Steve/Cathy: When do we need to make a decision about Jazz night (4/15), whether to cancel or not.
• Becca will email Blue Hills Country Club to see how late we can cancel.

6. Choral Update: Patty Souza

• March 18 maybe choral MICCA preview concert; can we sponsor dinner.
• Volunteer ID – need method to identify volunteers (kids, parents). Ways & means will make “Volunteer” buttons. Kids need to return button to get sign off for volunteer time.

• Upcoming car wash dates: May 23 & June 20
• POPs night is last night of merch sales

5. Jazz Night & jazz update: Becca

• Jazz Classic – tomorrow (2/13/20)
• Need volunteers for MAJE, 3/21 at Coakley and HS
• Will make sure kids are not unruly and leaving when they are done with their volunteer time
• Jazz night: Wednesday, April 15^th – Steve Conant has confirmed date
• At Blue Hills Country Club, Canton
• Increase ticket price to $20 (was $15) includes food (hot and cold apps; cookies)
• Last year 153 attendees – goal is 200 people to make a profit.

6. Fine Arts Update: Cathy Moen

• Band camp for 2020: August 16-22
• Gave Tracey money for the following:
  • Snowball
  • Amy Bedard collected money for Celtic strings shirts
  • Payment for jazz classic bands
• Great East is due
• Judges for jazz classic still to be paid
• All states, MAJE, MICCA in April, and other evaluations coming up
• March 17 MICCA instrumental; March 18 MICCA choral
