  1. Approval of Last Month’s Meeting Minutes: Paul Campbell

Motion made and seconded to approve the meeting minutes of June 2019:

Motion approved.

 President’s update: Paul

  • Town grant
  • Waiting to get money back from school for baritone we bought
  1. Treasurer’s Report: Tracey Jones (in absentia)
  • Tracey sent report via email; she was not here to review

We will approve May treasurer’s report at the October meeting.

  1. Vice President’s Report: Patrick Marquis
  • Big THANK YOU to Ed Ferris for all the work on the summer cookout and Norwood Day
  1. Ways & Means: Janice, Kristen, & Marcia
  • Merchandise table at Norwood Day: Sales were not good. Will move merch table for next year’s Norwood Day to the main street; better sales there
  • Fundraiser: Grandma’s Coffee Cake this year instead of pies; aiming for timeframe for ordering mid-October
  • Purchase reusable bags at Shaw’s – choose Norwood PMA, and we will get donation
  • Possible fundraiser: Maybe Stop & Shop gift cards as possible fundraiser?
  1. Norwood Day & Summer POPs Town Concert: Ed Ferris
  • POPs BBQ did well in donations (around $1,200); only $710 in donations at Norwood Day
  • Follow up – if it’s not worth it for us next year, we won’t do it
  • Concerts on common we usually get over $1,000, which is great
  • Looking for new credit card service for us. Now Squareup is charging a fee, will be too expensive; considering Venmo
  1. Elementary Instrumental Registration
  • Elementary school instrumental registration had 133 kids sign up for new instruments! Bodes well for future NHS bandies!
  1. Social Media update: Katie
  • Posted a lot of NHS play, Shrek, news
  • Rec department having pumpkin carving; would like to do a music related one
  • Discussed giving free tickets to MB home show to neighbors around the high school in gesture of good will; could result in increased food and merch purchases
  1. Music Camp
  • Successful week of camp; we didn’t lose any kids! 😊
  1. Student Fine Arts Liaison: Tea Caravello (in absentia)
  • Need to touch base on jackets when Tea is at meeting.
  1. Marching Band
  • MB Classic is at NHS on October 20, 2019
  • Amy C. would like to purchase garment bags for color guard; would like to buy 20

Motion made to purchase new garment bags; motion approved
