PMA Meeting Minutes
June 8, 2016

Call to Order: 7:10 pm
Welcome by Paul Campbell, PMA President
Attendance: Paul Campbell (President), Terry MacDonald (Vice President), Maureen Dimitriou (Treasurer), Stacey Lane (Secretary), Michelle Morales (Ways & Means), Ed Ferris, Lisa Silletti, Cathy Moen, Steve Conant, Claudia Maldanado, James Butler, Tracey Jones
- McAvoys: Singer-songwriter, Mary McAvoy, and her father, Phil McAvoy, in attendance to plan for the upcoming PMA fundraiser concert on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 7pm in the HS auditorium. There will be student participation. Mary will have a clinic with the choral groups and they will sing a cover with her. PMA will help with promotion and selling tickets ($10). Concessions will be sold and Mary will sell CD’s for $10 ($3 goes to PMA). Norwood’s House Masters to work sound system/lights.
Discussed selling General Admission tickets at door and advanced ticket sales through “Event Bright”. In addition, students will be given tickets to sell to family and friends. It was recommended we promote the concert through NPA and conduct an interview with Ms. McAvoy on the student cable network. Discussed advertising at the fall musical and on the Town Common starting in July. Discussed asking Mr. Bourn to add information to his monthly email.

The Ways & Means position remains open.
Motion made and seconded to accept Kim Beaudet as the Ways & Means Chair (2016-2017): Approved.
Hospitality: A Hospitality Committee will be established for events as needed.
Performance Coordinators CMS : Teachers to arrange as needed for concerts and events
Senior Awards: May 26, 2016 at Sheraton Four Points went very well.
Discussed updating the job descriptions from 2004
- Ways & Means: Michelle Morales
Merchandise: Has been ordered and is ready for pickup. (T-shirts and other clothing items)
Golf Ball Drop : Very few sold at Pops Night. Will need to push date back and continue to sell during concerts and over the summer.
Concerts on the Common/Summer Fest: Utz will not donate popcorn. M. Morales requested a donation from Hood for ice-cream sandwiches and bars. She is waiting for their response.
Orange Leaf fundraiser: Concerts on 6/9, 6/14 and 6/16.
- Webpage and Marketing: Ed Ferris
Web page up and running with a new website host. Ed is looking for feedback on the focus of the page. Discussed having a committee to view webpage and give suggestions. Ed will email questions to the Board to determine what should be on the page.
Marketing: Send marketing requests, such as concerts, mattress sale, to Ed to post to webpage.
- Marching Band: Steve Conant
Still recruiting new MB members at the concerts. Additional color guard members are needed.
Rehearsals have started.
Norwood Music Camp: Lisa Silletti
August 14-20, 2016. Applications have been coming in. She received 48 to date.
A camp nurse is needed.
- Director of Fine Arts: Cathy Connor-Moen
Pops Night: May 13, 2016. It was a great success. The music teachers will meet and discuss changes for next year’s concert. Concession sales went very well.
PMA scholarships: Two recipients, Meghan Ferris, Brian McDonough, were awarded the Paul Alberta scholarship ($1200). Three students received ($800), four students received ($600) and two students received ($500).

Discussed having the golf ball drop on the front field the day of the Mattress Sale. Paul to check dates with the school and fire department.
- Action Items:
Band Closet needs to be organized. No long term storage of food items.
Parent emails: Parent coordinators need parent emails to request volunteers for events.
Job Description: Each PMA position needs a written job description
Replacement PMA Positions: Recruit parents to shadow PMA positions and fill vacant positions
Quorum: 2015/2016 PMA Board, there are fourteen (14) voting Board Members. In order to have a quorum, eight Board Members must be present.
Amazon Smile: When a customer shops at “smile.amazon.com”, Amazon will make a small donation to a charitable organization of their choice. To participate, go to the site, scroll down and select “Norwood Parents Music Association, Inc.” and the PMA will receive a donation of $0.5% of qualifying sales.
New PMA Stationary: C. Moen will ask art alumni, Michelle Bradbury, to redesign the logo.
New PMA website/server: Need new web server-GoDaddy (domain) transfer made. Weebly (host).
