Jazz Ensemble
Qualifies for IAJE State Finals

The Norwood High
School Jazz Ensemble received a gold medal at the IAJE southeast districts
at Stoughton high school. Joe Boussiere, John Mitchell & Brandon Finn were
recognized as Norwood's Outstanding Performers. Norwood's stellar performance
qualified them to compete in the State Finals in Westborough.
Congratulations to Andrew Adams & Tim MacDonald
Andrew Adams and Tim MacDonald
have been accepted to the
All-State MMEA Conference 2008. Andrew accepted to the Chorus and Tim to the
Symphonic Band. They will be performing in concert at Symphony Hall
March 27-29.
NHS Jazz Ensemble attends the 40th Annual
Berklee High School Jazz Band Festival

Norwood put on a fine performance on their
3rd consecutive year attending the Berklee Jazz Festival. They finished in
fourth place out of 15 bands with similar
sized high school enrollment. The Outstanding Musician Award went to
sophomore Will Gerty on the tenor Sax.

"Outstanding Soloist" awarded
to Kimberly McHugh

Congratulations
to senior Kimberly McHugh for winning the “Outstanding Soloist” award
at the “Varsity Vocals International Championship of High School A Cappella”
competition held on March 25th at the Kellogg Music Center at Simon’s Rock
College in Great Barrington, MA. She won this prestigious award for singing the
song “Wise Up”. Norwood High’s Acabella and Voice Male A cappella singing
groups participated in this competition along with 6 other A cappella groups
from the Northeast Region.
High School Jazz Ensemble Captures Gold
at IAJE State Finals 3/2

It all began with over sixty Jazz Bands competing at
district sites throughout the State. Only twelve bands qualified for the
division "A" State Finals. The "best of the best" performed
at Westborough HS for a panel of judges. Seven of which brought home the gold.
We are very proud to announce that the Norwood Jazz Ensemble is one of them.
Berklee College of Music 39th Annual
High School Jazz Band Festival 3/
20//07
This is the 2nd consecutive year that Norwood Jazz
Ensemble has attended the Berklee Jazz Festival.
Norwood came in second place out of 10 bands with similar
sized high school enrollment. This was the strongest performance to date for the
Jazz Ensemble. As a result of the second place finish members of the Jazz
Ensemble will now have access to scholarships for summer study at Berklee
College of Music. Interested students should see Mr. Conant for more
information.
The Outstanding Musician Award went to junior Laura
Bouffard on the Clarinet, for the second year in a row!

Qualifies for IAJE State Finals

The Norwood High
School Jazz Ensemble captured a gold medal at the IAJE southeast districts at
Stoughton high school. Laura Bouffard, Dan Mahoney & Alishia Cooper were
recognized as Norwood's Outstanding Performers. Norwood's stellar performance
qualified them to compete in the State Finals on March 25th in Westborough.
Bouffard & Stelberger
represent Norwood at All State MEA festival
2/16/07
Laura Bouffard, grade 11 and Chuck Stelberger,
grade 12 were both participants in the Southeast District Music Festival and
were selected to Audition for All State by their high score on their Southeast
District Audition.
Chuck and Laura will represent Norwood at the
Massachusetts All State Music Educators Association Festival held in Boston on
March 22nd-24th at the Park Plaza Hotel with a concert at Symphony Hall on
Saturday.
Laura was accepted into the Orchestra as the
second chair clarinetist. Chuck will be singing Bass in the Mixed Chorus. We are
very proud of their accomplishments and the hard work it took for them to get
there this year!

Congratulations to all the
students that auditioned for the SE District concert Festival.
The following students from the CMS were selected as Voice Acceptances:

Matthew Wong, Samantha Wood, and James O'Connor (Alto Sax/Jazz) for Instrumental
Acceptance.
