Jazz
The Senior High Jazz groups
are directed by Steven Conant. Auditions are held in the spring.
Jazz Ensemble
- Build a repertoire
of 10 tunes, some Ellington and some others. Emphasis on
creativity through improvisation, solid rehearsal techniques and team
work. This ensemble will start off in sectional rehearsals and quickly
move to ensemble. We will explore/rehearse and learn music of grade
3.5. All styles of jazz will be examined.
Jazz Lab Band
- Build a repertoire
of 6-8 tunes, with an emphasis on improvisation, rehearsal technique
and team work. This band will start in sectional rehearsals and develop
into full ensemble rehearsal. We will explore/rehearse and learn music of
grade 2.5-3.5. All styles of jazz will be examined.
