From Boston, Massachusetts:

Take I-95 North to Exit 4 (NH Lakes and Mountains, Spaulding Turnpike). Continue North to Exit 6W and follow Route 4 West past the UNH/Durham Route 108 exit. Exit at Route 155A and turn east toward Durham. Follow 155A through a short stretch of fields to the UNH campus.

When on campus, follow Main Street straight to Mill Road. Take a right on Mill Road and then a right into Parking Lot C. This is directly across from the Memorial Union Building which is where the performances will take place.

CMS Jazz Band received a Gold Medal at Southeast District MAJE....also, recipients of "Outstanding Musicianship" went to Tom Little, Eric Muller, and Ty-Lucas Kelley

Norwood High School Jazz Ensemble

The Senior High Jazz groups are directed by Steven Conant.  Auditions are held in the spring.

Jazz Ensemble - Build a repertoire of 10 tunes, some  Ellington and some others. Emphasis on creativity through improvisation, solid rehearsal techniques and team work.  This ensemble will start off in sectional rehearsals and quickly move to ensemble.  We will explore/rehearse and learn music of grade 3.5.  All styles of jazz will be examined.

Jazz Lab Band - Build a repertoire of 6-8 tunes, with an emphasis on improvisation, rehearsal technique and team work.  This band will start in sectional rehearsals and develop into full ensemble rehearsal.  We will explore/rehearse and learn music of grade 2.5-3.5.  All styles of jazz will be examined.


 

The Norwood High School Jazz Ensemble Accomplishments:

Congratulations to NHS Jazz Ensemble for winning a GOLD medal in Stoughton on March 5 at the MAJE District competition.            

The following students received  “Outstanding Musicianship” certificates for their performances in Stoughton. 

Tim MacDonald - Trumpet

James O’Connor – Alto Sax

Michael Clarke – Trombone

 

The following students received “Outstanding Musicianship” certificates for their performances in Framingham.

Will Gearty – Tenor Sax,

Josh Dyckes – Clarinet,

Cullen Ryan – Drums

All GOLD medalists at the district level were eligible to compete at the State Finals yesterday Saturday March 21 in Framingham.  NHS Jazz Ensemble again won a GOLD medal at State Finals.

Coakley Middle School Jazz Band- directed by Craig Chisholm

Auditions are held in the fall.

They were awarded "Outstanding Band" status at the UNH Jazz Festival 2006 & 2004.
The Middle School Jazz Band won a Gold Medal at the IAJE Southeast districts in Stoughton, MA.
