There are two
Honor Groups at the elementary level; Fifth Grade Honor Orchestra and Fifth
Grade Honor Band.
The Elementary Honor Orchestra, under the
direction of Katherine O'Toole, is comprised of mostly 4th and 5th graders
with the occasional 3rd grader. They meet once a week from January through
May. Our goal is to create a positive learning environment with students
from all five elementary schools. It gives the students a chance to meet
and interact with one another while performing challenging repertoire.
They will be performing in Elementary Honor
Night, the Elementary Orchestra festival that will take place on May 2nd,
and the Great East Music Festival May 9th. The Orchestra Festival will give
them the opportunity to work with a guest
conductor and prepare them for the Music Festival at Great East.
